General Description
Villa Spago stands atop a hill with far reaching views across the rural heart of Umbria. The completely enclosed grounds have walls, fences, hedges and wrought iron gates that provide sheltering privacy and allow totally commanding vistas over the estate's olive groves and sunflower fields.
This farmhouse and its cottage have been restored with great attention to detail. The comfortable interiors include country antiques, a professional kitchen, a washing machine and screens on all the windows. A mid week cleaning for three hours is included in the price. A weekday cooking class, meals, more maid service and bicycle rental may be requested when booking.
Just four miles from the villa is a small town called Bastardo. The translation is quite obvious, but how do townsfolk refer to themselves? Among the dozens of villages you pass en route to the more famous ones, stop in on these very nice folks. We'd love to know.
The charming town of Montefalco is among Umbria's top wine producers. It has shops and restaurants, all reached within a 10 minute drive. Trevi's olive oil museum is 20 minutes by car; Spoleto: 25; Todi or Deruta: 40; Assisi: 45; Perugia: 60; Rome: 120; Siena or Florence: two and a half hours.

Second floor tower: One bedroom with two single, joinable beds and en suite bathroom with shower.
Cottage: One step up into living room with fireplace and CD player. One bedroom with a queen size bed. One bathroom with shower.
