The apartment is smoke free and has Wi-Fi for laptops. Since one bedroom is twice the size of the other and shares closet space, the layout is more fitting for a family rather than two couples.

For those without a car, a supermarket is within 500 yards as are trains to Genova and other coastal towns. In town is a funicular that whisks you up to Montallegro and to the miraculous sanctuary of the Madonna. The coastal views from this peak are pure joy. Within 100 yards of the apartment, you can hop on a quick ferry to Santa Margherita and Portofino or embark on a day long boat tour of the nearby Cinque Terre - five fishing villages that are best seen from the sea.

Pebble beaches, a public pool, tennis, horseback riding, golf and boat rentals all are nearby. By car, Santa Margherita Ligure is 10 minutes away; trendy Portofino or Chiavari, host to the largest antique market in Liguria on the second weekend of each month: 15; Sestri Levante or Camogli: 20; Genova: 40; Cinque Terre or Portovenere: 60; Pisa: 90; Milan, Turin or Florence: two hours.
