Not to be Missed in Gubbio:
- Museum of Palazzo dei Consoli - Atop the town, in the main square known as Piazza Grande, this museum showcasing Gubbio's local history from 6th century BC to the 19th century is chock full of goodies, starting with the building itself - a 14th century limestone palazzo. The collections are varied and include: Roman artifacts unearthed during the excavation of the town's Roman amphitheater (2-3 BC), Paleolithic finds, a majolica collection (14th to 20th century, a large collection of Renaissance paintings and the Eugubine tablets - ancient bronze tablets from 2-3 BC written in ancient Umbran and known to be the longest liturgical text. All displays have English language plagues.

- A ride up Mt. Ingino in the Funivia, an open air, basket type cable that travels up the side of Gubbio's mountain to the Basilica of Sant' Ubaldo, the patron saint of Gubbio. Tickets are located in Porta Romana.

- The Museo della Maiolica a Lustro - A private collection of over 250 majolica pieces produced in Gubbio from 1500 to 1950 found inside the 13th century Porta Romana, the only surviving defense tower guarding Gubbio's entrances.

Art Museums in Citta di Castello: - The Vitelli family were patrons of the Renaissance - they were to Citta di Castello what the Medici's were to Florence. The cannonery of their former palazzo houses the town's municipal gallery with works from Signorelli, Ghirlandaio, Raphael and dell Robbia terracotta.

- Cathedral Diocese Museum in the Basilica of the Cathedral of San Florido & Amanzio holds a large collection of sacred art: Eucharistic artifacts, goldsmith art from the 6th century, wood painting and Angelic art.

Local Crafts: - Citta di Castello's Museo Tela Umbra in Palazzo Tomassini - This museum is dedicated to the local weavers who craft hand woven, prized linen in the Renaissance style. Even today, workers can be seen making linens on looms.

- Cerbara, Citta di Castello: The Upper Tiber Valley is known for the construction and restoration of rustic furniture using the woods of the area: walnut, cherry, olive, chestnut - many artisan workshops are centered around Cerbara.

Golf - The 18 hole championship golf course of Antognolla, designed by Robert Trent Jones, a 35 minute drive is one the most picturesque courses in Umbria being centered around a medieval castle.

- The villa's manager will gladly make reservations at a nearby Aveda spa (10 minutes drive) offering massage, facial and other wellness treatments.

-Terme di Fontecchio, 45 min drive, is mentioned as far back as 80 AD when Pliny the Younger took his wife Calpurnia to these natural thermal baths to maintain her beauty; sulfurous water and mud in this area contains nutrients for the "original condition of equilibrium" - to restore skin and health. Today, it is a full service spa and park area with a pool, tennis courts, and bocce.

Horseback riding - Within 20 minutes' drive of the villa, an agricultural estate houses a riding school and raises pigs, chicken and sheep.

Hiking - Mount Cucco, 40 minute drive, borders the regions of Umbria and le Marche with a national park spanning over 70 miles of well-marked hiking trails. The park also organizes canyoning or rope repelling in its narrow gorges and gullies. The park includes a grotto of underground limestone caves for over 18 miles making it one of the largest and most studied cave systems in all of Europe; beginner trails are possible for those not experienced in spelunking.

Antiques: - Gubbio hosts an antiques market on the last Sunday of every month (except in January-February) in Piazza 40 Martiri.

- Assisi holds their antiques and collectibles market on the 2nd Sunday of each month in the town center.

- Citta di Castello's open air antique market is the 3rd Sunday of every month.

- Perugia's Art, Antiques and Collectibles market takes place on the last weekend of each month in Palazzo della Prefettura in summer and Rocca Paolina in winter.

Open Air Markets Local markets are found in the center of the villages starting at 8 am. They take place on Saturday in Assisi, on Tuesday in Gubbio, Perugia and Sansepolcro, on Wednesday in Umbertide and on Thursday in Citta di Castello.
