|13th century castle fortress (circa 1250) - One of the original defensive towers surrounding Todi that fell into ruin until purchased by the current owners who spent years restoring it as a luxury home. The structure has been kept in tact as a historical home with beamed ceilings and stone walls. Kitchens and fixtures are of the highest quality and bathrooms are lavish. Decor is a skillful blend of some antiques with furniture from high end Milan designers - right out of the pages of a magazine. Rooms are large and spacious with every room offering a breathtaking view.
Interior Amenities: Air conditioned throughout with the two second floor bedrooms having portable units. Every bedroom has a spacious bathroom supplied with portable hairdryers and toilet tissue. For your laptop, WiFi is available on the top two floors.
Layout Notes: The entrance hall leads to the elevator and the stairs. The home begins on the second floor and is spread over three spacious levels with each having large windows to take in the view. There are two bedrooms on each level with the smallest having a French bed. There are two locations for al fresco dining: the entire rooftop is a terrace with a dining area equipped with a portable barbecue and wall lights and the garden is furnished for dining.
|There are three kitchen areas in the castello: the fully equipped main kitchen is on the third floor and opens to the dining room. A second kitchen equipped for serving light meals on the rooftop terrace is found on the level below the terrace. Both are equipped with US coffeemakers and toasters. On the entry level, a service kitchen is available for assisting with light meals served in the garden.|

Next door, the owner's fenced in yard is home to her dog. Two roaming cats reside in the garden and they do not enter the house.

|Guests may be dropped off at the bottom of the 20 cobblestone steps leading up to the entrance hall's elevator. The elevator reaches all internal floors. The rooftop terrace requires 20 steep steps (see photo gallery).|
|A portable cellular phone is made available at check-in. The phone is typically charged with 25 or 50 Euro worth of calling time. Guests only pay for the usage consumed. If you require additional minutes, please ask your keyholder for assistance.

For summer rentals, Castello Todini's rooftop terrace is a gem and becomes an outdoor living room furnished for al fresco dining. It is equipped with a barbecue and covered pergola for shade. The panoramic views over the green hills are sensational from this perch - the highest point for miles around.

|After exiting the E45 highway that runs through central Umbria, the property is very easily found along a paved and scenic road.|

|As you might expect, Castello Todini is perched on the highest hilltop in the area and looks out over endless rolling green hills and meadows. Spectacular views are the most impressive from the rooftop terrace and are enjoyed from all rooms. The pool and the terrace are great spots for taking in dreamy sunsets.|

|Shopping and Dining: Within a five minute drive is the village of San Terenziano with a cafe bar selling gelato, a gas station, two mini-markets, two restaurants, one pizzeria, pharmacy, butcher and pastry shop. There is a large supermarket at the E45 highway reached in 10 minutes with a fresh bakery, butcher counter, delicatessen and well-stocked wine area. It is open on Saturday until 8:30 pm, and on Sunday. from 9 am to 1 pm.
Not To Be Missed: In the small town of Torgiano, 30 minutes away, visit the Museo del Vino and Museo dell’Olivo e dell’Olio. These museums show the history of wine and olive oil production dating back to Etruscan times.
Head north to Montefalco wine country - there are 24 wineries in this concentrated area producing the highest DOCG red wines from the Sagratino grape. While in the area, have lunch or dinner in the ancient and charming village of Bevagna with an assortment of small trattorie serving the local specialty, Gnocchi with Sagratino wine sauce.
Public Transportation: Drive one hour to the Orte train station where service into Rome takes 45 minutes.
Golf: In Ellera Umbra, 40 minutes away, at the 18-hole "Perugia Golf Club", open year round. Closed on Mondays.
Nature Walks: A visit to the Marmore Waterfalls, just under an hour's drive away, is a must-see for nature lovers. The falls are the tallest in Europe and were built by the ancient Romans. Today, the falls are turned on and off on a set schedule so be sure to check the timetable. Pack a picnic lunch and select from the three marked hiking trails graded by their level of difficulty to reach a couple of observation decks. During summer evenings, the cascading falls are floodlit making for quite a spectacle.
Open Air Markets: Morning markets are held on Saturday in Todi, Assisi and Perugia's Piazza Umbra Jazz, on Monday in Montefalco, on Tuesday in Perugia and Orvieto and on Friday in Spoleto.
Antiquing: An antique market is held in Todi on the second Sunday of each month. Todi's Italian Antique Exhibition takes place from April 15 - May 1. In Perugia, an outdoor antique market comes to Piazza Italia on the last Sunday of each month. Spoleto's antique market is every second Sunday of the month.
