During the day, the views from this heavenly, hill top perch span across endless miles of magnificent Chianti Classico landscapes. On clear summer nights, when stars roam the Tuscan sky, the sparkle from Stella del Chianti is easily mistaken for a new constellation.
Stella del Chianti is part of an olive growing estate and is one of three separate 15th-century, stone farmhouses. The English-speaking owner lives in one, 40 yards away and the estate’s matriarch, when in residence occupies the other just behind Stella. Each home faces its own direction and each, including Stella has its own private furnished patio and spacious garden. Both the panoramic pool and an outdoor wood burning oven are shared by all.
In keeping with tradition, the restoration exposed the original stone walls, beamed ceilings, terracotta floors and a large open fireplace. The simple country furnishings are comfortable, and the majority of windows are screened.
Upon arrival, guests are greeted with a bottle of estate olive oil, and a mid week towel change is included in the price. Part of the excitement here is the cooking class that may be arranged when booking along with cleaning and meal service.
Situated just off the SS222, Chianti’s renowned wine route, the last wooded mile of the approach is unpaved and bumpy. Two country restaurants are within a few minutes by car. Castellina in Chianti, with restaurants and a variety of shops is a 10 minute drive; Radda or Panzano: 20; Siena: 25; Greve: 30; San Gimignano or Florence: 45; Pisa or Montepulciano: 90.
