Upon entering this vast 600 acre estate that's been producing San Gimignano's signature wines of Vernaccia and Vin Santo since the 13th century along with Chianti Colli Senesi reds and olive oil, the first thing you'll notice is the estate's medieval headquarters where its wines and olive oils are sold. Here, you may rent bicycles, take a Tuscan cooking class, participate in oil and wine tastings and enjoy breakfast or supper in the ancient winery's drying room, open from April through October.
Just over a mile from the office, down a winding unpaved road, is a forest clearing at the edge of cultivated groves and vineyards with two side by side homes. Villa Santa Fina and Villa Salvucci are separated by hedges and a low wall. Each villa has its own private pool. The only shared space is the parking area located in front of both homes.
Villa Santa Fina enjoys views of rolling wooded hills from two furnished outdoor areas including a covered portico facing the pool and a vine covered pergola with a barbecue on the opposite side of the home away from its neighbor.
Completely rebuilt from top to bottom, Villa Santa Fina offers air conditioning and window screens in each bedroom and the living room, a brand new, commercially equipped kitchen, a washer and a dryer and a magnificent central fireplace in the living room. The décor is comfortable, contemporary and accented with antiques. Each bedroom has an en suite bathroom with one bedroom being smaller than the rest. The villa's top floor is a separate entrance apartment for the groundskeeper that is accessed only from external stairs.
A three hour, mid week cleaning with a towel change is included in the price. Additional cleaning service and meals may be requested at booking. For those wanting to dine at the estate's dining hall, a pre set menu for that evening's dinner is printed at the reception office each day.
