Shopping and dining: The small village of Marcialla is just two miles away with a cafe bar, one restaurant, a bakery, a small grocery shop and an outdoor pizzeria open only in July and August. Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, a modern town is within 2.5 miles and has two restaurants, a butcher, a fruit store, a wine shop and a supermarket. Other dining options are in the medieval village of Barberino Val d'Elsa or San Donato in Poggio, both within 8 minute drives.
Not to be missed: The complimentary tour of the estate's winery and olive oil mill. This is an opportunity to see the workings of a boutique winery, taste four of their wines and purchase wines and/or oil to ship back home.
Public Transportation: In Tavarnelle, there is bus service to Florence and Siena with each route taking one hour and service ending at 8 pm. Service to Florence runs every couple of hours while Siena is on a commuter schedule with a few morning and evening runs. Another option is to drive closer to Florence and park in the town of San Casciano with two SITA bus routes with frequent service to and from Florence taking 35 minutes. Service to Florence starts at 6:30 am and the last bus returns from Florence at 8:30 pm.
Tennis courts: In the village of Noce, less than 10 minutes by car.
Golf: In Grassina, a 30 minute drive, at "Golf Club Ugolino". Open year round. Closed on Mondays from October to March.
Open air markets: Morning markets are held in San Casciano Val di Pesa on Mondays, in Poggibonsi on Tuesdays, in Tavarenelle or San Gimignano on Thursdays, and in San Donato in Poggio on Fridays.
