Interior Décor
Hamlet (circa 1602) - Gutted and professionally reconstructed with meticulous care. Professionally decorated with exceptional quality furniture, well placed antiques and Renaissance art reproductions. Tuscan charm is throughout with the original thick beam ceilings and an open hearth fireplace.

Interior amenities: Fully air conditioned with screened windows. Bathrooms have heated towel racks and built-in hair dryers. Wi-Fi access is throughout and included in the price.

Layout notes: Vin Santo's two bathrooms are cozy in size and both have Italian style showers: one with a curtain and the other has moveable plastic doors. For outdoor dining, there is a private furnished balcony. This apartment has one of the largest living rooms and kitchens on the estate.

Kitchen with stove top, oven, dishwasher, fridge and a small espresso machine.



Meals
A pre-set menu dinner may be arranged, if requested at the time of booking in the estate's dining hall. Advance notice is required to open the hall, and this service is paid on-site in Euro. The dining hall is closed on Sunday evening.



Minuses
As part of an active winery, guests should expect to see and hear workers and their vehicles near the pool, since the winery is located behind the pool.

Air conditioned and beautifully renovated apartment in the most sought after location in Tuscany - halfway between Florence and Siena with San Gimignano as part of the panoramic Chianti view! A small village is five minutes by car.

The English speaking manager at the reception office arranges a number of services: buffet breakfast, cooking classes, mountain bikes, billiard room, lake fishing and plenty of friendly advice.

Staying on this well managed wine estate offers an exceptional value. All the utilities are included in the price along with a tour of the winery and olive oil mill followed by a tasting. Wi-Fi access is free of charge.



Pool
The shared pool is open from May to the first Friday in October. One pool towel per guest is included.



Road Condition
After exiting the Florence-Siena toll-free highway, the route is along easy, level and paved roads.

Property has screened windows.



TV
Satellite Basic package - A limited number of channels with most of them being Italian. There are one or two news channels in the English language.



Views
On a panoramic outcrop, the estate of Porta del Chianti overlooks endless miles of rolling Chianti hills covered in vineyards, olive groves and distant stone farmhouses. Vin Santo's furmished balcony looks out over the vines and towards the village of Marcialla. Both bedrooms enjoy scenic countryside views.



Washing Machine
A shared laundry room with a washing machine, iron and ironing board is available by signing up at the reception office.

Shopping and dining: The small village of Marcialla is just two miles away with a cafe bar, one restaurant, a bakery, a small grocery shop and an outdoor pizzeria open only in July and August. Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, a modern town is within 2.5 miles and has two restaurants, a butcher, a fruit store, a wine shop and a supermarket. Other dining options are in the medieval village of Barberino Val d'Elsa or San Donato in Poggio, both within 8 minute drives.

Not to be missed: The complimentary tour of the estate's winery and olive oil mill. This is an opportunity to see the workings of a boutique winery, taste four of their wines and purchase wines and/or oil to ship back home.

Public Transportation: In Tavarnelle, there is bus service to Florence and Siena with each route taking one hour and service ending at 8 pm. Service to Florence runs every couple of hours while Siena is on a commuter schedule with a few morning and evening runs. Another option is to drive closer to Florence and park in the town of San Casciano with two SITA bus routes with frequent service to and from Florence taking 35 minutes. Service to Florence starts at 6:30 am and the last bus returns from Florence at 8:30 pm.

Tennis courts: In the village of Noce, less than 10 minutes by car.

Golf: In Grassina, a 30 minute drive, at "Golf Club Ugolino". Open year round. Closed on Mondays from October to March.

Open air markets: Morning markets are held in San Casciano Val di Pesa on Mondays, in Poggibonsi on Tuesdays, in Tavarenelle or San Gimignano on Thursdays, and in San Donato in Poggio on Fridays.
