Just 30 minutes outside of Florence, the hill town of Montespertoli offers excellent wine, a world-class museum and a heritage that stems back to Etruscan times.
In an area of neighboring homes and less than 10 minutes by car from Montespertoli, Caterina's two units are on one side of the villa while the friendly owners occupy the other along with a smaller cottage 30 feet away. The owner’s English-speaking son can arrange day trips to the Etruscan Coast, Cinque Terre and Florence with himself as your guide. He can also reserve tables at special discounted rates for Parker guests at a few nearby restaurants. A shared pool is found on a level below the house and three, friendly German shepherds roam lazily about the grounds.
Each unit has a separate furnished, outdoor area located in the rear of the building. Inside, the units are simply furnished, have screened windows, a washing machine, satellite television and a wireless Internet connection for laptops at no charge. Caterina I has an arched brick ceiling in its country kitchen, and Caterina II looks out over the hills to Montespertoli. Maid service, meals and a cooking class, when the owner is in residence, may be arranged when booking.
Montespertoli offers a supermarket, shops, restaurants and a Tuesday market. Caterina makes a great base from which to explore central Tuscany. Baccaiano, a five minute drive away, offers commuter bus service to Florence. By car, Florence is 30 minutes away; Castellina in Chianti or San Gimignano: 45; Siena, Montecatini Terme, Lucca or Pisa: 60; Volterra, Bologna or the Tuscan coast: 80.
