Searching for the classic, standalone Tuscan farmhouse? One with a strategic location within easy reach of the alluring destinations in Tuscany and Umbria and in close proximity to a town? Please read on. Villa Amarena, awash in exposed stone, beams and brick arches sits perched above a secondary local road just over a country mile from the small town of Sinalunga. Driving a few more minutes leads to the superstrada with an intersection of roads connecting all four cardinal points in Tuscany and serving as the main gateway into Umbria. Touring the vineyards of Montepulciano and the picturesque hill towns of Cortona, Arezzo, Siena and others becomes amazingly easy when the right location is chosen.
Villa Amarena's entry reveals a spacious open floor plan with a dining room that flows through brick archways into a large living room. Timeless Tuscan architecture includes terracotta tile flooring, thick wood beam ceilings and handsomely crafted bathrooms clad in travertine stone. Each bedroom has its own good sized, en suite bathroom with hairdryer. With the exception of the ground floor bedroom, the others have window screens. Two bedrooms are larger than the others. The ground floor bedroom is ideal for those wanting to avoid steps.
Around the side of the villa is a brick patio with pleasant views over olive groves, rolling green hills and the neighboring farmhouses. Like many country spots, this area is often frequented by friendly felines. While cat lovers enjoy their presence and want to feed them, we must kindly insist that you do it outdoors away from the villa and never allow them inside in consideration of all future guests.
The rental price of Villa Amarena includes a mid-week, three hour cleaning with a towel change, a USB Internet connection and a large basket of firewood. Cleaning service may be arranged when booking.
Along the same road, within a third of a mile from the villa, is a small casual restaurant with indoor / outdoor seating that serves dinner from mid-June through October. Sinalunga, in just over a mile, offers a few restaurants, cafes and three supermarkets. Families take note - the route through town passes by a small park with a playground, a basketball court and a pizzeria.
Just beyond Sinalunga, a 10 minute drive leads to the quaint medieval villages of Trequanda and Lucignano and the entrance to the east/west superstrada linking Siena to Perugia. One exit along this road is the intersection to Italy's main north/south highway: the A1 autostrada, traversing all of Tuscany and beyond. The hill town and wineries of Montepulciano are 25 minutes away; the cheese farms of Pienza, the ancient lanes of Cortona, Arezzo's magnificent historic center seen in the film "Life is Beautiful" or the shores of Lake Trasimeno are 30 minute jaunts; Siena: 45; Perugia or Orvieto: 50; Florence, Assisi or Castellina in Chianti: 60; San Gimignano: 80; Pisa, Lucca or Rome: 2 hours.
