"Is there any other country in Europe where the character of the people seems to have been so little affected by political and technological change."

(W. H. Auden)

Puglia
Simple, Strong and Delicious

The conical shaped trullo, a myth made of stone, is the symbol of Puglia. From a 25,000 year old megalith to its white-washed Baroque cities, every age has left its mark on Puglia, and yet this enormous heritage remains mostly unknown. Magicians, frescoes and farmers still occupy caves along ravines and shores, dispensing curses, blessings and curative herbs and oils. Gnarled, twisted and grotesque multitudes of ancient olive trees stun the land, spellbinding in their absurdity, but yielding outstanding fruit.

In gleaming white towns, whimsical churches lord over a maze of sun-drenched lanes, filled with geraniums and delicate baroque homes. The delightful Pugliesi embrace you with food and stories aloft between reality and magic. In Puglia, Autumn leads to Spring and to wonderful discoveries in a land that’s rich in tradition and warm hospitality.
