Italian Villas in Liguria
From the quaint little villages of the Cinque Terre, to the romantic enchantment of Portofino, to San Remo, Liguria is a land of fascinating contrast. Genova, its capital, a sea power since the 6th century BC, was also the home of Christopher Columbus, and, unknown to many, Genova's historic center is the largest pedestrian district in Europe. The Liguri are gentle, industrious and cosmopolitan. Pesto, an exquisite and famous regional dish, defies imitation and should only be eaten here. On the coastline of this sun blessed strip of land seafood reigns supreme. Head a few miles inland and meats and fowl dominate the table. From Liguria, Monaco, Nice, Milan, Torino, the wine growing regions of southern Piedmont, Lucca, Pisa, Bologna, and Parma are all within easy reach. Its uniquely mild climate is ideal for year-round discovery. Liguria is easily reached by air from a variety of international airports. Both Milan airports are within a three hour drive from the Rapallo area. The airport in Nice is less than an hour from Colletta. Genova airport accepts a number of inter-european flights, as does Pisa airport, which is ninety minutes from Levanto and the Cinque Terre.
