Nearby Shopping: Poggio Mirteto's town center is just over a mile away with several shops, cafes, gelaterie, butcher, post office, ATM, pharmacy, wine shop and a shop making fresh pasta. There are two large supermarkets along the route from the cottage to the A1 highway. An outlet mall is near the A1 exit at Soratte and is open 7 days per week, 10 am to 8 pm.
Public Transportation: Poggio Mirteto Scalo, the newer section of town, is a 10 minute drive with train service into Rome's Tiburtina station taking 55 minutes. Service runs just about hourly with half hour frequency during commuter hours. The last train leaves Rome for Poggio Mirteto at 10:30 pm. An alternate option is to drive 20 minutes to Fara in Sabina where commuter trains leave every 15 minutes and take 40 minutes to reach Tiburtina station. The last train leaves Rome at 10 pm. Inside Tiburtina's train station, there is a Metro stop (line B). Both towns mentioned offer free parking.
Walking & Hiking: The nature reserve at Mt. Soratte is a 35 minute drive and offers marked walking and hiking trails for all levels of difficulty with one route specifically designed to stop at well preserved hermitages and another focuses on caves.
