In Positano, every day is a good day. Provided, of course, that you can manage climbing up and down narrow cobblestone lanes and the winding stone stairways that make up this ziggurat shaped town. Tempting boutiques, seductive little markets and classy cafés invite your attention along with tasty ristoranti, trattorie and osterie of every kind. Pastel colored homes garnished with archways open to flower filled balconies that face the sea from wherever they can.
All of the units in this large residential palazzo, like the town, are reached by steps. We counted 65 of them on our way to the third floor. The interiors of the apartment we chose are stylish, well maintained and fully air conditioned with both bathrooms offering Jacuzzi tubs and hair dryers.
Diamante is made up of two side by side apartments joined by a huge, furnished sea view terrace with Spiaggia Grande, Positano's main cove beach in view - a very valuable asset in Positano. Parts of the terrace are covered by a flower laden, shade pergola. One of Diamante's bedrooms is noticeably smaller than the other.
Winter heating, summer air conditioning and one hour of cleaning with linens and towels changed for three days a week are included in the price. For a daily fee, the owner can arrange for the use of a nearby boutique hotel's swimming pool.
Paid parking is also available at this hotel located 75 yards away on the street above. Space must be reserved when booking due to limited availability.
Aside from its quality and front and center sea views, another key advantage of staying at Corona del Golfo is the location. A 10 minute walk leads down to the pedestrian access center of town and the sea. Seasonal ferries to Sorrento and Capri operate from here.
Being on the upper part of town, both the buses that continuously loop the city and the ones that connect the entire coast from Sorrento to Amalfi stop nearby, making this an excellent base for exploring the entire Amalfi coast without a car.
