Profumo di Mare

Positano, Salerno

Shopping and Dining: There is a small grocery shop, a cafe bar and a restaurant within 100 yards. There are a variety of dining and shopping options in the center of Positano which is only a 15 minute walk downhill.

Not To Be Missed:
Marina di Praia, a 15 minute drive away is a picturesque fishing port with a half mile pedestrian walkway along the cliffs that leads to catch-of-the-day seafood restaurants and a medieval watch tower housing an art gallery.

Grotta di Smeraldo (The Emerald Grotto), an underground sea cave found near the village of Conca dei Marini, a 30 minute drive away. In the late morning and early afternoon sunlight, the cave turns an emerald green.

Internet Point: The La Brezza cafe bar across from Positano's main beach is open daily from 10 am to midnight. It's located on Via del Brigantino.

Public Transportation: 50 yards away is the bus stop for the Positano town bus that circles the town reaching the center in five minutes and the bus servicing the towns along the Amalfi coast from Sorrento to Amalfi. To access Naples and Pompeii, the coastal bus is taken to Piano di Sorrento where the Circumvesuviana, a local rail line can reach either destination. Seasonal ferries to Capri operate from June to September. For other months, ferry service is from Sorrento.

Festivals: Through the summer months, the town hosts a series of evenings called "Notti Bianche", during which shops remain open until 2 am, stands offer food tastings and live folk music is performed on the beach.

Open Air Markets: Morning markets are held in Sorrento and Ravello on Tuesday; in Amalfi on Wednesday; in Maiori on Friday.
